4 Keypresses and 2 Mouse Clicks
Is how long it took me to get writing this. And it will take 1 click to post.We are so connected these days its not even funny. With that kind of informational speed, we can get stuck on being task focused, as opposed to outcome oriented. What tasks do I absolutely have to do, compared with what can I possibly not do?No need for me to waste precious keystrokes logging into websites and what not. A few hotkeys and BAM! writing mode :) Optimize your manual tasks so there is less to think about and more act upon.* Take a split second in your head as you are working to see if there is something you could be doing faster and more effectively. How many mouse clicks and key presses does it take you to publish to your blog?Create a great day,

Poking My Head Out
Hello readers!
It's been a while since I've posted. The Easy TimeLapse team ended up scattered all over the world after our month break; which would make it difficult to collaborate due to time zones and things like that. So while it is no longer an active project, the good news is that we'll be able to pick it up very easily at any point in time :)
As for me, I've been doing some marketing consulting on the side. I actually got picked up for what I consider my ideal position at a CRM software company. I'm going to be a Success Coach. Basically, once a new customer gets the software, I'll be their personal coach to ensure they get up and running with it right away so they get a good ROI. While this blog will always be my general professional blog, I'm going to be starting up another one specifically for my experiences as a coach. I'll post a link to it once that is setup. It will probably be a month or so until that is operational so don't hold your breath. I'd like to still have you as a reader and you might need some oxygen between now and then.
A lot of my consulting clients have been looking to do business online. I've been doing this for a few years and I feel it is my duty to help spread the love and share what has been learned. There is a really great webinar that explains the foundational elements of running a business online. It's available for free on demand and you can check it out here>>
Until next time friends,
Voyicks
N.B. I have an affiliate relationship with jiveSYSTEMS. If you end up using their video email marketing software after clicking on the link, I'll get a small kickback. Don't let that scare you though. The webinar is packed with tons of information you can use to start you own business. It's worth a peek.
New Beginnings
Hello loyal readers!
It's been a while since my last post. I've been enjoying what life has to offer and floating around San Diego this past month. Since I had no intention of going back to Florida anytime soon (except to visit), I figured it was about time I found a place of my own to live. Living at the Art House for the Easy TimeLapse project was great, but now that Ben and Ced are off floating around this globe doing their own thing for a bit, it doesn't make much sense for me to stay there. Plus, I've never had a place of my own without roommates. Being 25, I'd say its about time I start experiencing that.
Thanks to some of my old friends from high school, I was connected to a very affordable place a bit north of downtown and its beautiful. The landlord lives in one of the rooms, but she is never there as she is always at her boyfriends. However, she's been living there for a while so the entire place is furnished and has everything I could ever need. So basically, I have the entire place to myself.
I moved in this past Friday and I've been enjoying relaxing in a place that I can call my own. Not that the Art House wasn't my own, but it had a bunch of roommates. Now its just me, myself and I (and occassionally my girlfriend when she decides to visit). I'm really excited to get settled in as now I'll be able to really do some work on my electronic and heavy metal acts that have been on the backburner for the past few months.
One thing I don't think I've mentioned is that I love animals, particularly cats. I've always felt they are my spirit guardians as I've been around them my entire life and life has been pretty good to me. The complex I live has 12 apartments with a giant courtyard in the middle. There are some big neighbor cats that hang out and they are uber friendly. I was overjoyed the first time I stepped out my front door and saw two giant kitties just chilling in the courtyard. I don't think I had petted a cat since Orlando so I definitely have some catching up to do :)
As for the Easy TimeLapse, this month is coming to an end as is my vacation. At the start of the month, I plan to regroup with Ced and decide what we want to do moving forward. When we stopped for a break, I had been getting great quotes from manufacturers and now it just an issue of pulling the switch. I'm excited to see what happens.
I guess I'll give you guys a litte reward for making it this far into the post. Below, you can hear an unmastered version of one the new U-Daul (my electronic music entity) tracks. It is entitled 'San Diego Struttin' and I can definitely see myself walking around this beautiful town while jamming out to this tune. Hope you enjoy it!
Happy Monday,Voyicks
N.B. Once I master that track, it won't that annoying hum or high frequency noise. Hopefully that isn't too upsetting and you can still enjoy it!
Ahhh, Relaxation
I decided to take a quick break and give a brief update on how things are going. This past weekend, one of my best friends from Florida came for a visit. I took him and my girlfriend up to San Francisco for the weekend to hang out and enjoy the big city. It was quite fun. I thought that San Diego had a great public transit system. San Francisco makes our trolley's look like toy cars. It's really wild.
I've been getting emails from manufacturers. Apparently, taking a whole month off is hard for people to wrap their heads around. I'm saving and starring all the emails I would need to respond to. For now, I'm taking it easy.
I know that a few of my readers are business saavy and are constantly looking for new things to learn and implement. Before coming to the Nerdatorium, I started with a friend and worked for jiveSYSTEMS, a video email company. We take an educational and nurturing approach to the sales cycle. After all, if you don't know how to use something, it won't make you any money.
The reason I went off on a tangent is because there is a complimentary educational webinar coming up on Thursday called 'Concept to Profit 6.0'. I've watched this presentation evolve through 5 iterations and it gets more slimmed down and more cohesive each time. Even if you never end up using video email, this webinar will educate you on a lot of the new things that are happening in marketing; which can be applied to your business regardless of what technology you use.
(Disclosure: I have an affiliate relationship with jiveSYSTEMS. If you register through the link above and end up becoming a member, I will get a small kickback. Don't let that scare you away though, I promise you'll learn a lot on the webinar.)
Cheers,
Voyicks
Vacation Time
Hello loyal readers! I apologize for not making any posts yet this week. However, there is a good reason: I'm taking my month vacation!
The way the Nerdatorium works is you work on a project for 3 months and then take one off. I've been working really hard for the past 3 months so its time for a bit of relaxation. Tomorrow, one of my best friends is coming into town from Florida. Myself, him and my girlfriend are going to take a trip up to San Francisco this weekend to hang out with some of her old college buddies. It should be a lot of fun. I'm really looking forward to experiencing more of California.
I'm not sure how often I will update this during my vacation, but I will certainly keep you in the loop. I plan to do a lot of reading and learning during this downtime. Also, I may have figured out a way to completely eliminate this country's debt. I'm going to research it more and see if I can get that ball rolling :)
Time to do some laundry and then pack for the trip!
Tide,
Voyicks
[Video] Girl Lapse
Hello and good Friday to everyone! We all have our own grooming habits and rituals. Stereotypically women take a long time to get ready. Rather than wait around, why not time lapse the whole process :)
I was fortunate enough to find a female volunteer last night to let me time lapse her "going out" grooming ritual. It really wasn't bad as the whole sequence was shot in 15 minutes. If you don't recognize the music accompanying this clip, you may not have had a childhood.
I'm probably going to take it easy today as it's been a pretty intense week. I am about to interview Shane for the People In Motion weekly update on Kickstarter. Aside from that, I'll probably take a few time lapse shots, but those are less work and more fun.

Back At It
Hello friends! After some much needed sleep, it's back to the nerd lair for more exciting progress. Speaking of progress, the People In Motion project has already amassed an 86% backing. It is very good to see support for this project. I can't wait to see what amazing footage we come up with. If you haven't seen the trailer already, check it out (114 secs)>>
After finishing up the few remaining emails from manufacturers, I'm going to work on a social media strategy for PIM. It should be simple enough. Keep to a schedule and always respect the audience. I'd like to hope that I achieve those goals in this blog.
On the side, I'll be thinking about and doing what time lapse shots I can get. I may even start to storyboard out an initial idea for the KS video.
If anything exciting happens, I'm sure you'll hear about it later :)

[Video] The Rising San Diego Sun
Good morning readers! I ended up continuing to work on stuff after my last post and, wouldn't you know it, the sun started rising. I've been wanting to get a time lapse of the sun coming up for some time. When life hands you opportunities, sometimes you like to make the most of them.
This was a particularly interesting shot. I've gone from a large amount of light to a little bit. Going in the reverse was new and this video demonstrates as such. Primarily, you will notice that the world gets flooded with this giant wall of light. The only indicator of movement is a really neat lens flare. We are always learning and I'm excited to learn more about setting up a shot like this so you can still see the sky.
Alas, I shall actually get to sleep now.
Good morning,
Voyicks
N.B. Since this shot is very intense, I figured a little 'Guerilla Radio' by Rage Against The Machine would be appropriate :)
[Video] PurLapse2
Whew! What a day. It's been quite productive. Between talking to manufacturers (and getting some very exciting quotes), working on the Nerdatorium inventory, and doing time lapse demos, I've been firing on all cylinders.
Ced and I were talking about the first time lapse attempt on the water filter. We realized that there was no point of reference, it just looked like a jug filling up quickly. This evening, with the whole house asleep, I was able to control the lighting conditions and get a crisp shot in front of the oven's clock. I estimated it would take 30 minutes, but it ended up taking 90. Crazy! Thus, the following clip is 30 seconds. I may redo this to get the effect done in 10 seconds. Alas, this is all a learning experience and I'm having fun while doing it :)
I'm also playing with the idea of using multiple light sources so you can see the water illuminated in the upper part of the tank as well. The filter itself needs to be replaced anyway. Maybe I'll setup a really neat shot where I filter water that has food coloring into the bottom of the jug. The bottom will already have water in it and it will be neat to see the convection and fluidic movement patterns.Anyway, I'm pooped for now. I'll try and get a few more photos done for the inventory and then it's lights out.
Fresh water fast,
Voyicks

Where Does The Time Go?
Good day everyone! Time has been whipping away. I've been tidying up and running inventory on the Nerdatorium and it is quite fun. I just finished cataloging everything which was a lot of stuff. I'm about to take a short break and then come back and add as many pictures as I can. People love pictures.
Still chatting with manufacturers. I'm going to stick to answering their emails in the evening, as that is the beginning of the day for them. It's just tomorrow. I like time traveling :)
Last night, I got bit with a bit of inspiration to blag out some new electronic beats. As you may be aware, I like to listen to an instrumental track on repeat while in productivity mode. Rather than play my typical 'Polynomial-C', I decided to test out the stuff from last night. Needless to say, productivity was high and time literally disappeared.
Oy,
Voyicks
